Noise & Vibration Monitoring

Compliance Monitoring of Noise Emissions and Ground Vibration

Extensive range of noise and vibration monitoring equipment can be deployed by ATP Consulting Engineers, or by our associates throughout Queensland, New South Wales as well as in Perth, WA and in Darwin, NT.

Noise Monitoring

ATP Consulting Engineers maintains large number of noise monitoring equipped (noise loggers and sound level meters) which can be deployed within 24-hours in the wider area of south-east Queensland and Northern New South Wales (from Lismore to Noosa and from Byron Bay to Toowoomba).  In the other regional areas throughout Queensland (Hervey Bay, Mackay, Gladstone and Townsville) and in Perth and Darwin, we can deploy noise and vibration equipment through our local associates to provide cost-effective service. Our noise monitoring services include:

  • Provision of noise monitoring equipment that is well maintained, calibrated and suitable for the required noise monitoring;
  • Site specific road, railway, or aircraft noise measurement for determination of compliance with the relevant design noise criteria or as part of noise complaint investigations;
  • Construction noise monitoring for compliance with noise criteria specified in Environmental Management Plan (EMP), or with noise limits specified under development approval conditions or in response to noise complaints;
  • Commercial activities noise monitoring, including compliance with development approval conditions, compliance with Liquor License conditions or in response to complaint investigations; and
  • Industrial operations (industrial plant or extractive industries) noise monitoring for compliance with ERA License conditions, or as part of complaint investigations.

Following the agreed noise monitoring period, ATP Consulting Engineers analyses the noise data and provides a noise monitoring report in a format required by the regulatory authorities, presenting the methodology, tabulated and graphical noise measurement results, assessment of compliance with the relevant noise criteria and recommendations for noise control (if required).

Vibration Monitoring

Vibration monitoring requirements often are bundled together with the noise monitoring requirements as part of major construction projects such as: - road and railway construction, bridge construction, upgrade and maintenance and as part of ERA License Conditions for extractive industries.  ATP Consulting Engineers have extensive vibration experience on these type of projects and our services include:

  • Provision of vibration monitoring equipment that is well maintained, calibrated and suitable for the required vibration monitoring;
  • Establishment of vibration monitoring stations at representative locations relative to the source of ground vibration to be investigated;
  • Site specific ground vibration measurements in accordance to the relevant standard specified by the regulatory authorities for the specific projects or in accordance with the ERA License conditions;
  • Construction vibration monitoring for compliance with criteria specified in Environmental Management Plan (EMP), or with vibration limits specified by the regulatory authorities for the specific project or in response to complaints to nuisance ground vibration or alleged building damage; and
  • Industrial operations (industrial plant or extractive industries) vibration monitoring for compliance with ERA License conditions, or as part of complaint investigations.

Following the agreed vibration monitoring period, ATP Consulting Engineers analyses the vibration data and provides a vibration monitoring report in a format required by the regulatory authorities, presenting the methodology, tabulated and graphical vibration measurement results, assessment of compliance with the relevant vibration criteria and recommendations for vibration control (if required).
